Update from the Studio of Forrest Harrison Gerke

Hello all, Over the past few months I've been working a lot with the figure, doing both drawings and paintings. I've been playing with various materials and sizes, and overall have been getting a positive response.

I have been putting small drawings on display for $25, which have been quite popular over the last few shows. They're a great way for me to do studies for larger works, and provide gallery visitors with "recession priced" original works to easily purchase.

I am looking forward to our upcoming Third Friday on August 21st, as well as our Gallery Underground 2nd anniversary show for the First Friday of September.

For more info on what i've been up to, please visit my website, and definitely stop by the gallery for one of our upcoming shows!

GU now open 24 times per year!

That's right folks, along with a few special events, we have been test driving being officially open twice per month. Along with our ever-growing popularity of the First Friday Art openings from 6-10pm, we are now open on the Third Friday of every month for Open Studio Night from 6-9pm. This gives those art buyers and claustrophobic fans a chance to really take their time and see the artwork in a less frenzied atmosphere. Stop on by and check us out- we'd love to see you.

Third Friday Night Success!!!

Despite a cold and rainy night loyal gallery goers made the trip down. Old faces and new ones came down to view the artwork. A regular visitor to the gallery proclaimed that he was excited for the gallery to be open on a third Friday since an artist friend of his was visiting out of town and he was able to take him to see the artwork. Despite the cold, the gallery had a warm inviting atmosphere and the night was a productive and light hearted and fun.

Bryan Collins Coffee Girls - reserve one now!

The Coffee Girls by Bryan Collins have been a huge success. Every piece so far is sold. For the rest of this year, Bryan will be making one Coffee Girl each month, named and themed for the month. The first piece, “Fiona February” is sold, but deposits can be made for the remaining 11 pieces that are coming up. Each one measures 5″x7″ and is Prismacolor pencils on cold press illustration board.

If you want to reserve a Coffee Girl for a particular month, please message Bryan at art@bryandrinkscoffee.com. A $25 deposit (through Paypal) will hold the piece for you and you will be guaranteed to own the Coffee Girl for the month of your choice. THESE ARE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE and no month will be duplicated; just one piece per month. The final price for the art by itself is $125 or Bryan will have the piece custom matted and framed with non-glare glass for a total of $175. Payments can be made during the time you are waiting for your piece to be complete, so the farther out your month is, the more time you will have to pay.

Please message before you send a deposit, just to make sure the month you want is still available. Since this series has started in February, January of 2010 will be the last piece. This means March ‘09 through Jan ‘10 are available NOW. Message Bryan NOW if you want your birthday month or some other special month reserved - first come, first serve

New Work by Kirsten Savage

I have been revisiting the photographs I took this past October and turning them into new paintings that showcase the changing colors of fall. I will be displaying these newest leaf paintings along with doing a live painting demonstration for our upcoming First Friday Art Opening.

Recent Work - Forrest Harrison Gerke

Hello, this if Forrest, one of the artists with The Gallery Underground. If you've been to our openings, I have a space in the back. Here are some photos from our February opening of some of the work I had displayed in my space. I'm currently in the process of creating new pieces in preparation for the March opening. If you'd like to see more of my work, please visit my website at http://web.mac.com/forrestgerke. There's a lot of great stuff being done by my fellow artists in the gallery, and so I'm very excited about our next show. Feel free to stop by sometime to say hello and see how the work is coming.

Our New Blog!

The artists of The Gallery Underground recently met and decided to put up a blog to document the goings on in the gallery. We had a great turn out to our First Friday opening this month and are all really looking forward to the next one on March 6th from 6-10pm. Discussions have been made about possibly expanding and adding new events in addition to our popular First Friday openings. When more finalized plans come together, we will make sure to spread the word. There's a lot of exciting new work going on in the gallery, and so as things progress, we hope to update this blog with more information about what we've been up to.
